Eichler_096_mac.jpg Monika in her original looking Eichler dinning room and kitchen. Tom Borsellino and his wife Monika Kafka have owned two Eichler houses. When they bought their current Eichler in the Willow Glen neighborhood in San Jose, it was plagued by dry rot and termites. The couple didn't "whitewash'' the place, but aged the new paneling with a special stain so it would match the existing paneling.? To brighten the space, the family chose lighter, more reflective colors for the ceiling, beams, and floor. The kitchen has the same cabinets and layout it had on the day it was built, although the cabinets have been repainted. Eichler cabinets are typically boxes with sliding doors. Over time, some of sliding doors started sticking and many were remodeled out of existence. Event in, San Jose, Ca, on 8/18/06.
